Laura Heslop Therapy

My story

My journey into therapy began with my own.

During my first encounter with therapy, I experienced what it was like to be truly listened to without judgement. It changed everything for me. Therapy gave me the tools to manage anxiety, understand myself more deeply and reconnect with who I really am. That experience never left me – and it planted the seed that one day, I might be able to offer that same space to others.

Learning the value
of connection

After leaving my graphic design career, I started running my own cleaning business in Beverley. What I loved most about this job was the people. Over the years, I have built long-term relationships with many of my clients, and I realised how much I valued being invited into people’s lives, listening, and being someone they could trust. Those lessons about connection and care are ones I now carry into my therapy practice every single day.

Becoming a therapist

Eventually, I knew I wanted to retrain completely. I’m now a Psychotherapeutic Counsellor and I’m currently working towards my Level 7 Diploma, which will qualify me as a Psychotherapist. Over the past two years, I’ve supported clients from all walks of life.

My approach is integrative, which means I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all model. I combine person-centred therapy with tools from transactional analysis and other techniques, tailoring sessions to what feels most helpful for you.

Therapy changed my life, and now it’s my privilege to walk alongside others as they find their way through whatever they’re facing.
